So with the new project I’m doing I decided to do a senior contest to get us started off! Check out the rules and tips below! Be green and be super creative! I have a voting crew of 3-4 people who will take a look at all the entries with me and decide the winner.
The winner will receive a FREE senior portrait session (value of $150.00) which includes 2-3 hours of shooting, a online gallery of proofs, multiple locations and 2-4 clothing changes.
Please read the rules carefully, and good luck and have fun!
Some things you can do to help save the Earth!
- Recycle! You can recycle by mail, or by local center – Ruston’s Trail Blazer Recycling center is located in the Wal-Mart parking lot. (Google Map) check HERE and HERE for more locations in your local area! You can recycle old cell phones at most of the bigger retail stores, Wal-Mart has a cell phone recycle box at the paint center. Lowes also has some of those boxes. You can recycle aluminum (and get paid for it by the pound) at Mitchell’s Metals (Google Map).
- Plant a tree. Make a dedication sign with the word erthe in it, or just be creative!
- Trash Recovery – That’s right..Roadside Pickup! That poor turtle that’s 150 years old might get his head stuck in a beer can on the side of the road, now wouldn’t that be a horrible way to die at that age? :0) Ok so it’s just a turtle…but what if your dog got his head stuck in a plastic bag and suffocated? Point!
- Purchase and install energy efficient light bulbs (CFL Bulbs)…ya know those really weird looking ones with spirals? :0)
- Make something useful out of something old or that you plan to throw away.
- Make a donation to a GREEN charity!
- Buy those $1.00 cloth bags from Lowes, Wal-Mart, Super 1, or any other store and use them for your shopping. Ladies, they fit in purses!
- Walk, Ride A Bike, or Carpool
- If you’re a water drinker buy a cool thermos and a water filter to drink clean tap water instead of buying bottled water. You’ll save money, the environment, and it can be an easy habit to make.
- Take your old clothes to goodwill or salvation army don’t just throw them away, If they’re too dirty for that, then cut squares out of soft clothes and use them for rags. I’ve done that when I need to clean my car or clean something really nasty that I don’t want to use an expensive rag or hand towel for.
Alright so there’s some ideas to get you started. I know I can already think of a bunch of funny ideas for photos and doing something to become green already so I’m excited to see what you can come up with! I’m accepting any entrants from up to 30 miles of Ruston, that includes West Monroe and Monroe! If you’re from outside the area and still want to enter be sure you want to drive to Ruston to get your prize. :0)
All entries due by April 3rd!

Matt Hudson - Thanks Michelle, it’s definitely a project I wanted to get going this year, I’ve actually had a ton of posts for it and just haven’t gotten around to doing them all yet. Next one will be up soon! :)
